Over the years, I've learned that most Christians look for scriptures, relatable stories, and books that answer the age-old question, "How can God's word get me through the daily struggles I face in today's godless society?"
Out of my frustration, creating a website that tackles these struggles, fears, and frustrations seemed the right thing to do. And so, after much prayer and "waiting on the Lord" regarding financial concerns, the beloved website of myGospelMessenger.com was born.
During my career as marketing director for a large Midwest radiology group, I participated in creating and producing educational programs for women's health for hundreds of women throughout the St. Louis, Missouri, area. After retiring in 2009 and moving to Phoenix, Arizona, my minister encouraged me to use this experience to start a Bible-focused program for church members who could not attend local services. Thus began the Palm Vista Homebound Ministry.
Our ministry involved once-weekly visits to individual church member homes and local Nursing and Assisted Living facilities. Our church had a group of dedicated ministers, deacons, and choir members eager to present the word of God in song and scripture to those who could no longer travel. We were also encouraged by the residents and staff of one of the Assisted Living facilities to start a weekly Bible Study. We were blessed to provide God's word at the facility for more than ten years, graduating many members to their eternal homes.
And then, as they say, along came Covid 19. Every ministry around the world came to a grinding halt. As fatally destructive as COVID was to millions, it was also detrimental to personal relationships; however, the blessing was that many local and national churches started online worship services. Those of us who ministered to local populations of the homebound, nursing home, and assisted living populations began looking at ways to reach our local populations as well. Thus, many fledgling websites and online worship services were born.
We were blessed when Dr. Bob joined us and gave us access to his vast library of articles written to encourage Christians. Dr. Bob is a multifaceted jewel of many colors. After suffering several massive strokes more than six years ago, he has only just begun to sparkle. He is currently producing four books centered around his twenty-five years as a college psychology professor and practicing licensed psychotherapist, fifteen years as a Washington State certified prison minister, and fifteen years as a writer of books, articles, and devotionals.
My son, Geoff, was also instrumental in the setup and production of the website and wrote a column for the site titled Encouraging Words. His recent passing from the result of sepsis has left us saddened and joyful at the same time. He will be missed tremendously, but he is with the Lord Jesus, who he loved with all his heart and being.

As a young married woman, I was privileged to teach Bible study to the women at my church, the First Baptist Church of Saugerties, New York.
After a time, it turned into a counseling ministry, which evolved into two weekly Bible studies for women in my home. We also studied "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby, "Boundaries" by Cloud/Townsend, and "The Emotionally Healthy Spiritual Life" by Peter Scazzero. These were life-changing and rich spiritual experiences for all of us. These continued until my husband was diagnosed with renal cancer.
Eventually, after 17 years as a stay-at-home mom, I went to work. I worked in various medical offices, a law firm, and managed "Curves."
After being a board member of the Pregnancy Support Center of Ulster County, New York, I became the Executive Director of two centers in Saugerties and New Paltz, New York. I retired in 2008.
My husband, Joseph La Rose, passed away on July 1, 2013, after almost 50 years of marriage. After my son, Steven La Rose encouraged me to move to Arizona because "I would not have to shovel sunshine," I moved here in 2014, where I eventually became a member and served at the First Baptist Church of Sun City West.
Yours for the spiritual and wholeness enrichment of women.
